Angels in America Part One
Angels in America – Part One: Millennium Approaches is the first half of Tony Kushner’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play that explores the intersecting lives of several New Yorkers in the mid-1980s, during the height of the AIDS crisis and amidst the social and political tensions of the Reagan era. It follows the intersecting lives of six main characters—including a gay man with AIDS abandoned by his partner, a closeted Mormon lawyer, and a ruthless powerbroker—culminating when an angel crashes through a ceiling to declare a prophet. The play intertwines politics, religion, sexuality, and identity in a deeply human and often surreal narrative.
