GMD Guest Speaker | Delina White on

Join the Goldstein Museum of Design for an artist talk featuring Delina White of IAmAnishinaabe. Delina has sewn with sequins, alongside beadwork, since learning from her grandmother at the age of 6 in the village of Onigum on the Leech Lake Reservation. She incorporates historical sequins (sourced online) in her contemporary designs and considers sequin embellishment a "lost art" in Native fashion since its popularity in the early to mid-20th century. To accompany her presentation, Delina will share actual examples of sequined items including a pipe bag she made for her husband and a skirt made and worn by her mother as a registered nurse and tribal healer. This event is free and open to the public, and presented in conjunction with the exhibition Sequins: Flash and Substance, on view in the Goldstein Gallery through December 4, 2026. After the talk, the gallery will remain open for viewing until 7:00 PM. Registration is requested.
