Homeschool Metals: Metal Art & Wirework

Spend four mornings discovering the creative possibilities of metalworking! Each session introduces a unique metalworking technique, giving students the opportunity to explore the material through hands-on projects in a supportive and creative environment. Participants will begin by learning foil repoussé, to emboss original designs into thin metal sheets creating detailed relief artwork. The series continues with the creation of 3D metal sculptures, where students transform flat materials into playful three-dimensional forms. On day three, we’ll explore jewelry-making as students design and craft their own personalized stamped bracelets. Finally, the series concludes with Luffarslöjd, the traditional Scandinavian art of bending and wrapping wire to create whimsical creatures and decorative ornaments. Throughout the workshop, students will use real metalworking tools to hammer, stamp, and shape their projects, building confidence and problem-solving skills with every piece. No prior experience is necessary, and every participant will leave with a collection of handmade metal art to take home.
