Boulder Roots Festival Is Now Tulagi, Returning to Pearl Street with a Bigger Second Year

The second edition of the Boulder Roots Music Festival, held August 27–30, 2026, takes on the new name Tulagi and expands into visual and performing arts.

Boulder Roots Festival Is Now Tulagi, Returning to Pearl Street with a Bigger Second Year

For four days in late August, Pearl Street becomes a single, sprawling, walkable stage. From August 27 through 30, 2026, the festival that launched last year as Boulder Roots Music Fest returns to Boulder's historic brick-lined pedestrian mall, but now under a new name: Tulagi.

Now in its second year, the festival is produced by Bear Roots, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded by Caruso Ventures and Roots Music Project, with the Caruso Foundation as anchor sponsor. Organizers say it brings together more than 800 artists across 20+ stages, spanning bluegrass, funk, hip-hop, jazz, indie, electronic, and more.

This year, the festival expands beyond music into performing and visual arts. Expect live mural painting from artists like Kristen Ross and Marisa Ware, puppet-making workshops, comedy hours, a podcast series, an interactive musical arcade, and Denver's Best Stand Up Comedy Hour. Headliners include Boulder's own Big Head Todd and the Monsters, alt-rock's Everclear, bluegrass band SteelDrivers, Afro-Cuban artist Cimafunk, the avant-garde collective Itchy-O, electronic producer Maddy O'Neal, and rising jam band Magoo.

The most talked-about change this year, though, is the name. The festival now goes by Tulagi, as reflected on the website's title: Tulagi | Boulder Roots Music Fest. The rebranding reflects the festival's growing ambition and deep connection to Boulder's identity.

Beyond the music, the Founders Experience, beginning August 26, gathers Colorado's entrepreneurs, investors, and civic and creative leaders around a shared belief in community through shared experiences. Through the Ecosystem Partner Program, the festival gives back to local nonprofits across the arts, music, entrepreneurship, and community.

When the gates of Pearl Street open on August 27, Tulagi will bring a fresh name and an expanded mission to the heart of Boulder — a heyday in the making.
