At the Wayne Community Church, the Fellowship Hall at 22 Old Winthrop Road has hosted many a community supper. The menu is simple: home-baked casseroles, beans and hot dogs, salads and pies, with vegetarian and gluten-free options, and take-out available. The cost is by donation, and everyone is welcome. The church's website is clear about its purpose: 'Open Hearts, Open Minds, Open Doors.' And its welcome extends further: 'Everyone is welcome at the Wayne Community Church. We invite anyone desiring to grow closer to God through Jesus Christ to participate in the life of the church. We welcome people of any age, race, ethnicity, immigration, marital or economic status, gender identity or sexual orientation, family structure, physical or mental ability, political and religious background.'
