Art opening: 'Surface & Soul'
Guadalupe Center, 333 Montezuma Ave, Santa Fe, NM, 87505
NM, New Mexico

Surface & Soul brings together four distinctly different visual storytellers, capturing both the fleeting pulse of human connection and the quiet, geometric poetry of built environments. From raw, unscripted moments in 1980s New York and the vibrant rhythms of daily life in Brazil to the striking, graphic signage encountered while walking through contemporary New York City today, the featured artists explore how culture and geography shape public spaces. Alongside these human and graphic narratives, the exhibition turns its lens toward the urban landscape itself—transforming night-lit shop facades, reflective city surfaces, and the weathered, colorful layers of peeling paint on a street railing into compelling abstract studies. By juxtaposing human intimacy with architectural texture, Surface & Soul invites viewers to look past the immediate surface of the everyday world and uncover the quiet atmosphere, history, and soul woven into the fabric of the street.
