Oklahoma's soccer season ends at home the way these things usually do in Norman: in the fall sun, on a field that has been there since 2000, with a ceremony before kickoff and something slightly absurd planned for the concourse. The Sooners' 2026 home finale is set for Sunday, Nov. 1 at noon against Arkansas at John Crain Field at the OU Soccer Complex, and the athletics department's own schedule page bills it as Senior Night with a corgi race, plus $2 beer, soda and popcorn.
The corgi race is the part that travels. College soccer promotions have grown increasingly inventive as programs chase students who have a dozen other ways to spend a Sunday afternoon, and a short-legged dog sprint across the grass is a reliable way to fill a grandstand. It sits in a long tradition of minor-league-style stunts imported into college athletics, and it pairs oddly well with the solemnity of Senior Night, when a class of players is honored with framed jerseys and family photographs before the match.
That the Sooners are playing Arkansas at all is a product of conference realignment. Oklahoma spent decades in the Big 12, where the soccer program competed against the likes of Texas, Baylor and Texas Tech. The Sooners moved to the Southeastern Conference in 2024, and the Razorbacks, long one of the SEC's stronger women's soccer programs, became a conference opponent rather than a regional curiosity. The two teams met in Norman on Friday, Oct. 23, a match Arkansas won 3-1 after a 14th-minute penalty kick and two quick second-half goals. Oklahoma's Kayla Keefer scored in the 66th minute for her 20th goal of the season, becoming the first Sooner to reach that mark in a single year.
That October meeting was itself designated Senior Night, with Paige Califf, Sophie Morrin, Kiki Smith, Kendall Campell, Sadie Sterbenz, Claire Curran and Mojisola Ayodele honored before kickoff. The Nov. 1 date carries the same billing on the department's schedule page, which is worth flagging for anyone planning around the ceremony: the earlier Friday match was reported by Oklahoma Athletics as the Senior Night game, so fans who want to see the seniors recognized should check the team's social media accounts before making the trip.
What is not in doubt is the venue. John Crain Field opened in 2000 and has been the program's home ever since, one of the better Division I soccer facilities in the region. A $4.5 million renovation completed in 2006 added a press box and grandstand, along with a multi-use building at the corner of Chautauqua Avenue and Imhoff Road, between the soccer complex and the Headington Family Tennis Center. Much of the first phase of that funding, roughly $1.2 million, came from former student-athletes, a detail athletic director Joe Castiglione highlighted at the time. A new video board went up on the northeast corner in 2013, and permanent dugouts on the north side gave both teams covered benches with heating vents and ceiling fans, unusual for the conference at the time. Seating capacity is listed at 3,500.
Admission is free for regular-season home matches, according to the athletics department's schedule page, which is a meaningful detail in a sport where ticketed entry is the norm. The listing that circulated through Visit Norman carried an address of 500 Imhoff Rd, which corresponds to the OU athletics footprint in Norman rather than a separate arena; the soccer complex itself sits at the Chautauqua and Imhoff corner on campus.
The Sooners come into the finale at 11-4-2 overall and 5-4 in SEC play, with a 5-3 record at home. The loss to Arkansas dropped them into a tie for fifth in the conference with Auburn and Kentucky at 15 points. A closing match against the Razorbacks, then, carries seeding implications as well as sentiment.
For a program that has spent most of its existence as a regional name, the SEC move has changed the texture of the schedule. Arkansas is now a familiar opponent, and the home finale is a conference game with standings at stake rather than a nonconference tune-up. The corgi race, the $2 concessions and the senior ceremony are the packaging around that. Kickoff is noon Central.
