The Rialto Theater at 100 E. 2nd Street in downtown Casper has been in the business of gathering people under one roof since 1921, when Henry Brennan built it as the New Lyric. It reopened a year later, on October 17, 1922, as the Rialto, an 800-seat movie palace with an orchestra pit and live accompaniment by the Chicago Netto Ladies Orchestra. In 1928 it became the first theater in Casper to show talking pictures using Vitaphone sound. After a comprehensive renovation completed in 2024, the room now seats up to 351 across floor tables, mezzanine bar-height chairs and balcony seating, with a modern stage, sound and lighting rig and a full-service bar. On Friday, October 23, 2026, it hosts a hometown album release party for Chancey Williams and his new record, 'Thirsty and Blue.'

Williams is about as Wyoming as a country singer gets. He was raised on a ranch outside Moorcroft, in the northeastern corner of the state, and followed his father into the rodeo arena as a saddle bronc rider. He competed at the National High School Finals Rodeo and at the College National Finals Rodeo. He won a couple of rounds at Cheyenne Frontier Days. He also picked up four degrees along the way, including a bachelor's in political science and a master's in public administration from UW.

That rodeo résumé is the root of the most remarkable line on his CV: he and the late Chris LeDoux are the only two people to have both competed in the Cheyenne Frontier Days rodeo and performed on the festival's main stage. LeDoux, the Wyoming rodeo cowboy turned songwriter, is the patron saint of exactly this kind of career, and the comparison is not one Williams discourages. The achievement helped earn him a place in the Cheyenne Frontier Days Hall of Fame.

Since 2007 he has recorded a string of studio albums in Nashville and built a following that stretches well beyond the Mountain West. He has appeared multiple times at the Grand Ole Opry, taken the stage at the Ryman Auditorium, played Red Rocks Amphitheatre, and headlined during the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas. He has shared stages with Toby Keith, Cody Johnson, Alan Jackson, Dierks Bentley and Parker McCollum, and he is the only singer-songwriter endorsed by CINCH, the Western wear brand. In 2025 he headlined the first-ever Bulls, Broncs and Bands at Ogden Pioneer Days in Utah, a rough-stock rodeo followed by a full concert set, and was booked back for a return in 2026.

'Thirsty and Blue' follows 'Miles On Me,' his seventh studio album, which came out through Younger Brothers Records. Three singles preceded the new record: 'It's My Lie,' 'If You Lived Here' and 'Saddle Up.' The album arrives on October 23, the same day as the Casper show, which makes the Rialto date a release-day party rather than a victory lap. The K2 Radio write-up of the show promised the record is 'as country as the boots, hat, and horses that Chancey is known for,' and teased the lyrics of a song called 'All Things a Cowboy Ain't Ever Gonna Say' with a list of things no cowboy would utter: that he doesn't like beer, that cowboy hats are dumb, that Copenhagen is gross.

Williams has been consistent about where the material comes from. 'I stay in my lane and sing about authentic stuff that I've actually lived versus, a lot of times, artists just sing about whatever,' he told Cowboy State Daily in September 2026. 'I feel like I have to sing about stuff that I did and have accomplished in my life. That way it's more authentic.' He still goes home to work on the family ranch. The same instinct shapes how he talks about his audience: 'Our fanbase is rodeos and fairs and things like Pioneer Days — people that attend those concerts understand the lingo of a cowboy and things I write about,' he told the Standard-Examiner.

That is part of what makes the Casper date feel like more than a tour stop. Casper is the biggest city in the part of the state he comes from. A release-day show in a 351-seat room in a building that has anchored downtown since the oil boom is a different proposition from the amphitheaters and arenas on the rest of his calendar.

The show is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Friday, October 23, 2026, and is a 21-and-over event. Tickets start at $57.04 including fees and went on sale Monday, September 14, 2026, at noon through Tixr. The Rialto's own listing describes the evening as an up-close performance with new music and merchandise on hand, and the K2 Radio preview warned that anyone who waits risks catching only a glimpse of the band from the sidewalk out front. Whether general-admission tickets remain at the door is not something the venue's published materials address; the ticketing page is the authoritative source, and the show is presented by BandWagon Presents.

For a singer whose whole argument is that the West is a way of life rather than an image, there is a certain logic to releasing the record in a restored 1920s movie house in the middle of Wyoming, a few hours from the ranch. The Rialto has been reborn twice now, once in 1922 and once in 2024. On October 23 it gets a third kind of opening night.
