Heirlooms & Heritage: A Community History Fair
J. Erik Jonsson Central Library, 1515 Young Street, Dallas, TX, 75201, US
Uncover the American history behind your family treasures with Heritage Auctions. Bring your family heirlooms, photographs, documents, military memorabilia, digital treasures, or even a story that has been passed down through generations and learn how to preserve it for the future. Meet specialists from Heritage Auctions for an antiques-roadshow-style opportunity to learn more about historical objects and documents, with a focus on political Americana, historical documents and Civil War & militaria. Connect with local history and genealogy organizations and explore resources for researching your family. Photograph, scan, digitize or record the stories behind your heirlooms so they can be preserved for generations to come. Library staff will also be available to help you. Get creative with a hands-on art activity inspired by family history, visit the Heritage Lab in our Genealogy & History Division and explore the library's historic Dunlap Broadside of the Declaration of Independence. This event is in-person only! Register for a reminder email and help our organizers plan. This Genealogy & History program is part of Dallas Public Library's 250 Years of Us: Reading America's Past, Writing Our Future, brought to you by the generosity of the Friends of the Dallas Public Library and the General Levi Casey Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
